Halloween 2009. October 31. Amidst the occasional rain because of the impending storm, sis and I thought of spending the afternoon (other than waiting for the heavy rain to stop) sampling the one of the latest restaurants in town. It’s the American restaurant—Todd’s.
Landed at Todd’s!
The waiter kindly offered to leave the menu for us to explore even after we placed our orders. So I went ahead and chronicled all the dishes they had to offer! He even intimated that cocktails will be available soon. Both of use aren’t interested in alcoholic drinks though D:
The upper deck was empty (save for us) for a few minutes, so I had the chance to take this picture. I felt uneasy taking a shot with other customers in it; they might not have appreciated the gesture. Haha! As you can see, the place is spacious and clean; the floor boards were just so well-polished those wearing heels best beware! LOL
The waiter placed extra napkins and then lots of condiments! My brother would’ve been really pleased had he been with us. :D
First up in our order was the Pumpkin Soup! My sister insisted on ordering one—it was Halloween after all. It was a really creamy heavy sort of soup. It tasted uncannily like the Filipino dish “Ginataang Sitaw” (long beans in coconut milk) sans the “sitaw” and probably even the “gata” :D
Don’t let the close-up fool you. It was a solo order. But still, it was so filling that it was more than enough for the both of us!
Sis chronicling her first encounter with the Pumpkin Soup.
Then the Baby Back Ribs arrived! It was served with French Fries (which was nicely fried and wasn’t like a soggy oil sponge like some other fries I’ve tried in another resto) and buttered corn & carrots as side dishes. The Baby Back Ribs itself was good and tender. Tried it with Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, Maggi savor and Heinz tomato ketchup. Yappari! It tasted great with the ketchup! Lol <3
Had to order rice because the dishes we’ve ordered didn’t have any.
Poised to attack! xD
Baked oysters! Eight pieces/shells of oysters covered in a gratin of cheese. The heavy creaminess of the cheese was a delicious mouth-watering distinctive taste of the oysters! Don’t be fooled by the size! Even one is so filling! They were served in a plate with generous amount of rock salt, which I’m guessing, if not for garnishing, is there to keep the shells in place…from running away, perhaps? :D
“’O Oysters,’ said the Carpenter,
‘You’ve had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?’
But answer came there none —
And this was scarcely odd, because
They’d eaten every one.”
(Well, not everyone. Saved half of the serving for mom and bro. ;D)
Dessert! It’s a slice of New York Cheese Cake with generous sprinkling of cocoa powder. It was okay, but I expected better. The cake is a little too sweet from how I’ve known New York Cheese cakes. Its texture reminded me a little of an egg pie. The crust is thin and mushy-soft that it almost wasn’t there. It was a nice dessert nonetheless, but what was more interesting was what we had to eat it with–
–OMG! Alien Forks! :D
Special kudos to the waiters who were smart, prompt and well-trained (they know their stuff really well), and the security guards of the building who were thoughtful and polite (with their ready giant umbrellas and amiable nature). It was still drizzling when we headed out of the store. Can’t do anything about that but at least we enjoyed our stay.
Well, there goes our rainy Halloween afternoon. Hope you had a nice Halloween as well. :)
